When Taco Bell claimed they purchased the Liberty Bell absolutely worked in their favor. That day and the following day, the profit for the company increased more than $1 million....that INSANE! The April fools joke was definitely a great way to get their name out there and put their product in peoples minds.

The Proshade stunt also included a national landmark which means that the news will resonate with many people. It was so outlandish of an offer that journalists had to write about it. It definitely worked because I'm sure not many people even knew about the product before hand.

Golden Palace casino's Virgin Mary grilled cheese sandwich purchase definitely helped them out. Not only did they get great media coverage, but I'm sure many religious people visited the online casino after hearing this news, that may not have before hand.

Burger Kings left handed whopper was not as successful at the others however it did bring customers into the store so to call it unsuccessful would be untrue. The left handed burger is an insane idea and those who believed it are just as out of their minds as the people who thought it up.

The Sonicyoga.com stunt was obviously successful because they since made four more yoga videos.

The DC Comics Death of Superman definitely raise their sales. Superman's death didn't last very long and the Return of Superman came out shortly after drawing many comic fans to purchase the return of their favorite hero.

Meow Mix house is a good idea. Cat lovers must love it because it is a bunch of cats living in a house together and creates a reality television feel. Each week a cat is adopted which is nice to see because the cats only go to nice families. The incentive is free meow mix for a year to the adopters so the product is definitely getting great publicity.

Greece bailout

Well for those who may not know, a few key countries that are a part of the European Monetary Union, are in great financial trouble. None more than Greece. Greece is has been in extreme danger of bankruptcy and are about to accept a bailout from the EU. This however, will only weaken the Euro in relationship to the dollar and place limits on almost every business related part of every day life in Greece. Italy, Portugal and Spain are also in extremely tough economic times but are not on the verge of receiving a bail out from the EU. Countries such as Germany who have a strong economy at the moment will be greatly hurt by this bailout and the weakening of the Euro. International trade will be much more difficult for them and restrictions on some goods will hurt their economy. Some say that a new currency will be created for the strong economies that are a part of the EU but it is still too soon to tell. The upcoming months will be a good time for us Americans to travel to Europe however as our dollar will be stronger than ever over there.

Twitter

As a young adult in today's media driven society, it is tough to find people who do not have a twitter account let alone never looked at the website. The question whether or not the popular website has peaked has arisen, and personally, I feel the statement is not a very accurate assessment. While the numbers of visitors to the site has dropped statistically, it is hard for me and I'm sure anyone else to go an entire day without encountering the topic of twitter. It is everywhere. Almost every day on Sportscenter, an announcement about a new overpaid athlete, complaining about his team via his twitter account is made. Fans of the teams, and various other celebrities join the site just so they can "follow" their favorite people and feel like they are somewhat close to them. I myself refuse to have a twitter account, but I know I am one of the very few people who do not have one. I feel like the site is a little to invasive for my liking, people don't need to know what I'm doing every minute of the day. Yes, I have a facebook account, however I am not the person who changes his status every ten minutes. In fact, I haven't changed my status in days. Twitter is still going strong and in my opinion, has in no way peaked. I believe that it will be still be going strong for a while because it is a way for us regular people to fel like celebrities for a few minutes out of the day.

Introduction

My name is Anthony Giuliano and I am in my fourth year at MSU. Although I am technically a senior I will be attending the school for an extra year because I changed majors at the end of my junior year. I hope to be able to come away from this course with a better understanding of how to properly create press releases and other pieces of written work for use in the world of public relations. I created this blog as an assignment for my PR writing course and will be regularly posting on it different things we have been discussing in class among various other topics. I also hope to gain a better understanding of the media phenomenon that is blogging. I'm still trying to figure out how to actually form these posts, hopefully my next one will be better.
